Methods of the investigation involved the microscopical examination of the pigments and of the cross-sections of the samples. The inorganic pigments were analysed by microscopical chemical tests or by electron probe microanalysis with energy dispersive X-ray spectrometer and further identified by X-ray diffraction method with the help of Guinier-Hagg type focussing powder camera. The organic pigments were identified by thin-layer chromatography, high pressure liquid chromatography, and mass spectroscoру methods.
